Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (IATA: ATL, ICAO: KATL, FAA LID: ATL), known locally as Atlanta Airport, Hartsfield, or Hartsfield–Jackson, is located seven miles (11 km) south of the central business district of Atlanta,Georgia, United States. It has been the world's busiest airport by passenger traffic since 1998, and by number of landings and take-offs from 2005 until 2013.^[3] Hartsfield–Jackson held its ranking as the world's busiest airport in 2012, both in passengers and number of flights, by accommodating 100 million passengers (more than 260,000 passengers daily) and 950,119 flights.^[4][5][6] Many of the nearly one million flights are domestic flights from within the United States, where Atlanta serves as a major hub for travel throughout the Southeastern United States. The airport has 207 domestic and international gates.

Hartsfield–Jackson is the primary hub of Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection, and Delta Air Lines partner, ExpressJet and is a focus city for low-cost carriers Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and Spirit Airlines. American Airlines also carries many operations from the airport. With nearly 1,000 flights a day, the Delta Air Lines hub is the world's largest hub.

Naming For Runways

Runways are named by a number between 01 and 36, which is generally the magnetic azimuth of the runway's heading in decadegrees. This heading differs from true north by the local magnetic declination. A runway numbered 09 points east (90°), runway 18 is south (180°), runway 27 points west (270°) and runway 36 points to the north (360° rather than 0°).^[1] When taking off from or landing on runway 09, a plane would be heading 90° (east)

also called reverse thrust, is the temporary diversion of an aircraft engine's exhaust so that it is directed forward, rather than backwards. Reverse thrust acts against the forward travel of the aircraft, providing deceleration. Thrust reverser systems are featured on many jet aircraft to help slow down just after touch-down, reducing wear on the brakes and enabling shorter landing distances. Such devices affect the aircraft significantly and are considered important for safe operations by airlines. There have been accidents involving thrust reversal systems.

EgyptAir Hijacked

EgyptAir flight 181, a domestic flight from Alexandria to Cairo, has been hijacked. The aircraft, an Airbus A320, departed Alexandria-Borg El Arab Airport (HBE) about 06:30, landing on runway 04 at Larnaca Airport at 07:45. After landing the aircraft taxied to Apron 2, where it parked at the engine run area.
According to an EgyptAir statement a passenger claimed to have an explosive belt and demanded to be flown to Larnaca.

EgyptAir stated that there were 56 passengers onboard in addition to 7 crew members and one EgyptAir security member.
Negotiations with the hijacker resulted in the release of all passengers except for the flight crew and four foreigners.
Local media report that the hijacked is a 27-year old male who wants to meet his estranged Cypriot wife.
